— A cluster of dwarf daffodils up and blooming by the red bird feeder
Good Morning All,
My usual morning routine--once a cup of java has jump started my circulatory system--is to do a Day Book entry (I am presently up to the middle of June), then boot up the one for the day in question, check it for typos, open an e-mail blank, list a few historical events of the day (while doing my best not to be too silly), write a few paragraphs about whatever comes to mind (while doing my best not to be too silly … or too long), admonish you all to go and stay well, attach the Day Book, attach the pdf version, and fire it off.
After that, I read my cyber Boston Globe for a while and try not to feel too elated when, for example, the Trump/Ryan Health Careless Bill goes down in flames. What a pity! And of course what makes it all the more delicious is that it failed because some crypto-Nazi organization called the Freedom Caucus didn’t deem it cruel and heartless enough to meet their exacting standards.
I usually save checking my e-mail until late morning in the hopes someone will say something about the Day Book stuff. (I am not picky! I welcome insults and complaints as much as compliments.) Yesterday, for example, a Peace Corps compatriot wrote to say how much he liked the Ferlinghetti poem. (As do I!). And today, one of my teaching colleagues/friends, whom I just added to the list, wrote with regards yesterday’s Day Book and the X.J. Kennedy poem: God, how lovely. Can I have all your bygone Day Books?
The highlight for today’s Day Book is a facsimile of the painting I just purchased from Lowell. Let me be quick to say that it is smaller than Holly’s accompanying picture because I did not dare mess with its dimensions. Artists, I am led to believe, do not appreciate that. Anyway, it’s a beauty! I can’t wait to hang it in my living room, probably not far from the painting by an old friend from college days.
Okay, time to get into high gear house beautifying-wise. What Britta called T.-U.-ing. Tidying Up. Johs arrives at 7:00 p.m. today, Holly and her friend Ryan around noon tomorrow. The kitchen needs serious attention, and I have not even made their beds yet! Panic in the streets!
Go Well and Stay Well,
Bhekaron
Oh, I forgot to mention why I mentioned my morning routine. Since the kids will be here a glorious week, I decided—since it will be busy times--I’d better check to make sure the Day Book entries for the rest of March are done and ready. Guess what? They aren’t. I have all of April in the can, all of May, and up until 17 June. But, honest to God, I cannot find 26 - 29 March, anywhere! I have conducted an FBI-like search of this computer for signs of Russian and/or Trump intrusions, but nothing turns up. Talk about panic in the streets!
