Saturday morning
1 April 2017

— Up today before the devil got his shoes on.

Good Morning All,

Johs had a 8:55 plane to Finland to catch this morning, so—since drive-time to the airport is a bit under an hour, and he needed to be 90 minutes early--I planned to get up at 5:45 to make him a little breakfast and coffee while he showered and packed. Guess which battery in the house decided to call it quits last night around 2:00 in the morning? Yup, the one in my alarm clock. I have to change that sucker roughly once every three years.
Still, some little bird or other had me sitting bolt upright in bed at 6:15, and by the time Johs was out of the shower I had a bowl of Cheerios and two slices of raspberry jam toast ready. The coffee we took with us in travel mugs, leaving just before 7:00, only a few minutes behind schedule.
Saturday morning before 7:00 makes for not a whole lot of traffic on the main highway to the airport. We made good time, chatting the while, going over some of the weeks highlights. The early morning light of what still promises to be a sunny day seemed particularly soft on the farm buildings and fields we passed.
At the airport, alas, came the usual hard moment just before he had to pass through security when we exchanged hugs and I had that feeling of mice scurrying around in the bottom of my stomach and gnawing at the lining.

I shall be getting the same feeling again late this afternoon when Holly and her friend Ryan go through the same security gate, but in between we shall have a lovely day. On the way home, I picked up a batch of Danish pastry, which in Denmark is always referred to as Vienna Bread. We’ll have a leisurely morning and then head into Copenhagen to do a couple of the things we missed out on yesterday, before heading airport-ward.

It has been a glorious week, but way too short!

Go Well and Stay Well,

Bhekaron
