— a deep autumnal hush out there this early morning

Good Morning All,

Thanks to the six ladies and six gentlemen who responded to my woefully amateurish 2nd Amendment Survey.

Thanks also for comments, including this one: The only way to get rid of gun violence is to get rid of guns. Since that ain’t gonna happen, all the rest of this is nonsense. The only workable solution would be to rewrite or repeal the 2nd amendment. Did you know that the original impetus for the 2nd amendment was the fear of slave rebellions. The southerners felt they needed hardware to handle insurrections, which they perpetually fear. This carries over to the present day where guns are God to our Confederate brethren.

And a comment from one person who chose not to do the survey: “Your gun-control survey was going along nicely until you got into politics.” I wasn’t sure what that meant. I had somehow assumed the 2nd Amendment had something at least vaguely to do with politics. (I also asked myself if you get to make comment if you do not choose to participate … and decided you did.)

Anyway, one thing you may now depend upon, this is the absolutely first and last poll I shall take in these pages. I must have been out of flipping mind to attempt it.

But that said, the results are certainly interesting. For instance, of the ten liberals and two moderates, all but two felt a U.S. citizen should have the right to own deer rifle.

Also interesting to me, the person who thought my survey too political is of the opinion better funding for mental health services would help reduce gun-related crimes. I heartily agree, but eleven of 12 respondees felt NRA members would not support funding for mental health services.

Anyway, here, for whatever they might be worth, are the results:
